Mendes Follows Joan Crawford
Eva Mendes has been a very busy woman since 2008 began. In January, she started filming The Cleaner with Samuel L. Jackson in Shreveport, Louisiana. Jackson plays a crime scene cleaner who gets involved in a job he later discovers was a covered-up murder. Eva is cast as the widow of the man murdered in this web of deceit. As soon as she’s done, she begins shooting a remake of the classic 1939 film, The Women, taking on the role Joan Crawford played in the original. Meg Ryan portrays the faithful wife whose husband has an affair with Mendes. “I didn’t copy what [Crawford] did,” Mendes notes. “I took it on as my own.”
