Christina Aguilera photo Christina Aguilera goes down under for a new concert DVD
Christina Aguilera might not be touring following the birth of her new baby boy, but it doesn’t mean fans can’t see her live.

When the Back to Basics tour visited Australia last July for a pair of shows at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Aguilera’s record label rolled the cameras to create this 90-minute DVD featuring the album’s singles “Ain’t No Other Man” and “Candyman,” along with prior No. 1 hits such as “Come on Over Baby (All I Want Is You)” and “What a Girl Wants.” The 18-song collection also includes bonus material, including 360° stage views and interviews with Aguilera and key individuals involved in the tour.

Most impressively, though, Live and Down Under captures the immense stage production that helped Aguilera and her team to earn Billboard magazine’s recognition as the 2007 Top Grossing Female Tour. In fact, they also picked up two nominations at the 2007 Billboard Touring Awards, for Top Package (with opening acts the Pussycat Dolls and Danity Kane) and Breakthrough Artist.

The concert DVD captures the lavish Cirque du Soleil-style production, which included three different stage scenes, a massive lighting and hydraulics setup, and an array of stage performers that ranged from choreographed trapeze artists and fire jugglers to burlesque cabaret and stilt walkers. The world tour, which ran from November 17, 2006 to July 27, 2007, included 77 performances across South Korea, the Philippines, Australia, Europe and North America...

Massive Appeal

For most music acts, it’s tough to book that first live show. NYC trip-hop act Pacha Massive had no such problem, however. The duo actually landed its first gig at Madison Square Garden.

“We got together and jammed out three songs, and then a week or so later, a friend heard the tape and asked if we wanted to play the Garden,” recalls Nova, the group’s guitarist, keyboardist and producer. “Of course we said yes, and lo and behold we found ourselves opening for Aterciopelados. I’ve played bigger places than that [with other groups], but Madison Square Garden is home. I live in New York, and you always dream about playing there.”
