Estylo’s own Gerri Miller gets the
scoop
from our favorite stars.

by Gerri Miller

Nadine Velazquez of My Name is Earl will be the envy of millions Jan. 19. She stars in the Oxygen original movie Husband For Hire with Mario Lopez (as her ex) and Mark Consuelos as a guy she hires to pose as her husband so she can retain her share of her family’s business. “They’re pretty cute, aren’t they?” says Velazquez, who spent a month with them shooting in Albuquerque, New Mexico, playing a selfish, money-hungry woman who’s changed by love. Consuelos was “very endearing and engaging. I felt real moments with him,” says Velazquez, and Lopez’s chiseled physique made a definite impression on her. “I touched Mario’s pecs a lot,” she confides. “I was like, ‘Hug me!’ He’s so strong.”  No wonder she wants to make more romantic comedies!

Felicidades to Christina Aguilera on the birth of daughter Winter Harlow on Jan. 11 and to Roselyn Sanchez on getting engaged—her boyfriend Eric Winter finally popped the question in Puerto Rico over New Year’s. You can catch Sanchez dancing her way into Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s heart in The Game Plan, out on DVD Jan. 22. In this romantic-comedy departure from her role as FBI agent Elena in the oh-so-serious Without a Trace, “I made it a point that I was going to smile in every scene,” says the actress, who returned to her ballet roots, dancing with the Boston Ballet. “I had a blast,” she told me.

Wizards of Waverly Place teen Selena Gomez was among the stars at the premiere of the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds Concert movie in Hollywood, rocking some red-clip in hair extensions on the red carpet. A singer too—she plays Hannah’s rival Mikayla on Hannah Montana—Gomez just may be the next multimedia Miley. A singer and dancer, she’ll star in the movie Another Cinderella Story, due out Apr. 4. As for the Hannah movie, it opens Feb. 1 for a week and is as hot a ticket as the pop teen’s concert. Many of the shows are already sold out—or selling on the Internet for big bucks.

Like most actors in Hollywood, Ana Ortiz has been off work because of the Writer’s Guild strike, and she misses seeing her Ugly Betty buddies every day. “I was hanging with Salma [Hayek]—her baby is so gorgeous you can’t even stand it-- and Vanessa [Williams] the other day and we’re going to get together for dinner because we miss each other,” she says, noting that she’s otherwise keeping busy fixing up her apartment, learning to cook new dishes—which she doesn’t usually have time to do—and travel. She was in New York visiting family over the holidays, is enjoying a getaway with husband Noah in Santa Barbara and Montecito this weekend, and will go back to New York Feb. 1 for Fashion Week. “I’m going to be walking the runway in the Red Dress Fashion Show. I’m so excited,” she says, hoping to check out other shows while she’s there. “I have to practice my walk!”
