Eva Longoria Parker’s Hollywood Beso

Eva Longoria Parker planted a big smooch on Hollywood with a star-studded opening party for Beso, a beautiful upscale Mexican eatery on Hollywood Boulevard that officially opens to the public at the end of March. “I’m excited that it’s finally opening,” said Parker, radiant on the red carpet in a dress by Marchesa, Christian Louboutin shoes, and Jean Dausset jewelry. “I love the experience of dining and I want people to enjoy that here.”

Parker joined forces on Beso with restaurateur Todd English after meeting a few years ago through mutual friends and joking they should open a restaurant one day. “The thing I love most about Eva is she’s just so down to earth and cool and unaffected,” praised English. “She very much influenced the menu.”

Parker had input into everything from the design and décor to the uniforms and off course, the menu, which includes her recipes for tortilla soup and guacamole. “I make the best guacamole ever, ever. Tony loves it,” she said, though Mr. Parker wasn’t eating any that night as he was playing basketball in San Antonio. But there were plenty of other famous folk on hand to enjoy lamb chops, shrimp, mussels, and other fare, and tequila drinks from party sponsor Hornitos.

Parker’s Desperate Housewives co-stars Felicity Huffman, Nicollette Sheridan, Dana Delany and Ricardo Chavira were there, as well as DH creator Marc Cherry. “Eva talks about cooking for Tony all the time. I think she’ll make a much better restaurant owner than Gabrielle would. Eva’s not selfish and self-absorbed,” he compared, revealing that when Housewives returns with new episodes Apr. 13, Gab will find out about Carlos’ blindness “in a very funny way.”

Also on hand were Amaury Nolasco, Roselyn Sanchez and her fiancé Eric Winter, and Mario Lopez, holding hands with his favorite Dancing partner, Karina Smirnoff. In April, Lopez will make his Broadway debut in A Chorus Line as the director Zach, a dancing but not singing role. “I’m going to be in New York for about four months. I think they got a place for me near the theater. I’m nervous,” he admitted. Smirnoff planned to visit, “as long as he wants me there.”
George Lopez was a bit tired, having played golf with Lee Trevino at dawn, but his wife Ann said they wouldn’t miss Beso’s big night. “Eva’s been to our house,” said Ann, who made arroz con pollo, “But we’ve never been to hers. This is kind of reciprocating.” She and George are getting into the restaurant biz too with chef Michael Mina, and hope to open Mexican-fusion eateries in L.A., Las Vegas and Texas.

Constance Marie, in a black jacket and cropped pants from her Constance Marie Collection, peep-toe Louboutin pumps, a Prada bag, and a Natalie B necklace, was eager to try Parker’s tortilla soup until I told her it was made with chicken stock. “I’ll see what she has for vegetarians,” said Marie, who has known Parker for years. “As two Latin actresses constantly trying to get work in Hollywood, we’d run into each other all the time. I’ve gotten the chance to see her when she first got Desperate Housewives, at her bridal shower, all those things, and now the restaurant. I’m proud of her.”
