Estylo’s own Gerri Miller gets the
scoop
from our favorite stars.

Ugly Betty scoop, movie openings, Cristián keeps Dancing

Lots of big Ugly Betty news this week. The latest guest star to appear, as you might have heard, is Lindsay Lohan, who will appear in the May 22 finale and five more episodes next season. Lindsay’s character was mean to Betty in high school (as we see in a flashback), but she’s fallen on tough times since and Betty tries to help her. Whether the show does the same for Lohan’s flagging career remains to be seen. Also in the big finale, volatile supermodel Naomi Campbell guests, wielding a bat (relax, it’s a baseball scene!), Betty gets romantic proposals from Gio and Henry, and Hilda learns a shocking secret about Coach Diaz--guest star Eddie Cibrian, who debuts in this week’s episode and appears again next week (May 22).

Meanwhile, there’s serious talk about moving production on the show to New York, where it’s set (and the pilot was shot) for Season 3. Shooting will begin in July, and before then America Ferrera will squeeze in a movie. She’ll play a math teacher who helps her students through crises in An Invisible Sign of My Own. With Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 due in August and How The Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer (filmed before her Betty success) hitting theaters May 16, America’s everywhere—including the Hollywood Hills, where she just bought a thee bedroom house for $1.4 million. She and boyfriend Ryan Williams plan to marry next year.

Finally, congrats to Ugly Betty for being named outstanding comedy series at the GLAAD Media Awards for the second year in a row. And check out Ana Ortiz in the SOAPnet celeb moms special Relative Madness: Mama Drama, May 8 at 11 PM.

There are some splashy movies opening this weekend, but for a change of pace from the comedies and the action flicks there’s The Babysitters, about a teen kid-minder who becomes the madam of a prostitution ring. She gets the idea after sex with a parent she works for, played by John Leguizamo. “It’s a morality play, what happens to people in our times,” says the actor, who stars next month (June 13) in M. Night Shyamalan’s thriller The Happening. A real-life father of two, he’s happily married to Justine Maurer. What’s the secret? “The sex gotta be good! We all know that,” he laughs. “And you’ve got to talk, you’ve got to deal with your feelings. It’s better to deal with them than let them fester. Don’t let them fester.” Wise words!

Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher in What Happens in Vegas...

Now, for those blockbuster releases, there’s the high-octane CG update of the old cartoon Speed Racer, the equally eye-popping The Fall, which was filmed in dozens of real locations all over the world, and the Cameron Diaz-Ashton Kutcher romantic comedy What Happens in Vegas. Cam recently lost her father Emilio to an infection following a bout of pneumonia and hasn’t been able to promote the movie as much as she normally would have.

Cristián de la Fuente is in the final four! Despite a painful ruptured tendon in his left forearm, the Chilean heartthrob has made the final four in Dancing with the Stars. He’d injured himself while samba-ing with partner Cheryl Burke on the Apr. 30 show, and saw an orthopedic specialist the following day. The verdict: he’ll need surgery to repair the tear. But the doctor gave him the OK to postpone the operation for three weeks, and kept in play by the audience vote, he was determined to continue despite the fact he had to learn two dances this week. “If I’m going to leave the show I’m going to leave it dancing, not because I’m injured,” he said. Thanks to Cheryl’s clever choreography, he not only aced the tango and mambo, he performed a pretty impressive one arm lift—twice!—and earned three 10s total, a 57 out of 60 personal best and high score for the night. He’ll compete in the semis next week with Jason Taylor, Kristi Yamaguchi and Marissa Jaret Winokur.

Now that she and her partner Mario have been eliminated, there’s a silver lining for
Karina Smirnoff—she’ll have time to visit Mario Lopez in New York, where he’s appearing on Broadway in A Chorus Line, and will release his workout book Mario Lopez’s Knockout Fitness next Tuesday.
